This programme traces the development of driven Pheasant shooting from the early Flint Lock days through the Edwardian era to the present day. Jason Abbot discusses this development and the advancement in the Gun Makers art to produce the modern sporting gun.

Steve Denny, Chief Instructor at the West Wycombe Shooting Ground, takes a pupil through the techniques of correct gun mounting and stance to become a proficient shot, with the main emphasis on safety. From the shooting ground we follow the development through a day in the field.

The pheasant notorious for their height in deep valley shoots, are a challenge to all sportsmen and Steve Denny gives tuition explaining the technique of shooting the high pheasant with some personal tips to achieve success.

Finally we join Jason Abbot on his shoot towards the end of the season where he presents high strong flying birds and his philosophy behind a well run shoot, to provide exciting sport.
