Jimmy Younger is one of the last true professional fly dressers, with 40 years experience behind him. His career started with Redpath of Kelso in 1955, then with WM Robertson of Glasgow and Sutherland Fly in Helmsdale. He then spent seven years in Hong Kong as tutor/ manager of a large fly dressing company.
Returning to Scotland, he and his wife Gloria set up their own business in Durness, Sutherland, before moving to Torthorwald, Dumfries in 1979.
Jimmy has over the years written many articles on fly-dressing for various magazines, both home and abroad, and his work has been featured in many books on fishing and fly-dressing.
In this programme Jimmy, with Osbourne McMinn, dresses 8 examples that can be used to produce a series of patterns, showing the techniques used by the professional fly-dresser to produce Tube and Waddington to the very highest qulaity from traditional materials to the most modern.
