Jimmy Younger is one of the last true professional fly dressers, with 40 years experience behind him. His career started with Redpath of Kelso in 1955, then with WM Robertson of Glasgow and Sutherland Fly in Helmsdale. He then spent seven years in Hong Kong as tutor/ manager of a large fly dressing company.
Returning to Scotland, he and his wife Gloria set up their own business in Durness, Sutherland, before moving to Torthorwald, Dumfries in 1979.

In this 2nd programme, Jimmy with Osbourne McMinn dresses some of the more basis classic feather-wing flies including three of Jimmy’s own patterns: ‘Colonel Bates’, ‘Prince Phillip’ and the more recent ‘Miss Megan Boyd’.
Each fly is tied in Jimmy’s traditional Scottish Style, which has earned him the reputation of one of the finest fly-dressers in the world.
